The two Muscovy ducks

On Monday 25th April 2016, two of the most beloved ducks of the Reffley community passed away unfortunately. and here was the reason why: “After speaking with Alison at the RSPCA this morning it is confirmed that DVE (duck viral enteritis) is in the area and Muscovys are the first to suffer , south Wooton pond lost some birds 2 weeks ago and DVE was confirmed , it is 100% fatal to Muscovys and death occurs within a few hours of symptoms showing. Please let others know if they have Muscovys as this is a very contagious disease and is spread by usually other ducks which are carriers. It is not harmful to other birds or species or humans but can affect other geese and ducks.” – Pete Chappell from the Reffley Association Watch – Facebook group.
